Accelerate out of corners. Hold drift while steering to swing the rear outward. Steer into the corner to tighten the arc, or countersteer to widen it and charge faster. Release at blue sparks for a mini-turbo or gold for a super-turbo. Stay on the road to keep your charge. Tap drift in the air for a landing boost.

Gamepad: steer with left stick; right trigger accelerates, left trigger brakes; right shoulder drifts, bottom face button fires, left shoulder looks back, top face button recovers, left face button toggles camera, right face button opens the glider, Start pauses. Assign controllers in race setup.
Touch: use the bottom controls and the VIEW button to switch between first and third person. Auto-accelerate is available in settings. Landscape gives you more room.
Starting boost: press accelerate during the final second of the countdown. Holding it too early stalls the engine.
Pick four maps in order after the Garage for a Grand Prix. A tour shows each map before the countdown; press Space or the Skip Tour button to start sooner. Hold C (P2: Backspace) while using a Ricochet Pearl to fire it backward. Gamepad left shoulder works too.
Ride behind another kart to charge slipstream. Green boxes grant items; trailing racers get better odds. The bubble blocks one hit. Time Trial gives three boosts and saves your best ghost on this device.
Collect coins on every track; glowing green coins are worth five. The Garage's Plating Machine picks its next common, rare, epic, or legendary hull or wheel set at random and shows it before you spend 100 coins. It never repeats a part, and Bocchi and Army Tank special parts stay out. Rocket Hull gives faster boosts; Comet Hull makes boosts last longer; Guardian Hull helps recover from hits. All-Terrain Wheels ignore slime puddles; Trailblazer Wheels lose less speed off-road; Spark Wheels charge drifts faster. River Skimmer and Sunset Sprint hulls, plus Moss Rollers and Pebble Racers wheels, have stat trade-offs. New common Brook Hull and Meadow Wheels, rare Bark Hull and Puddle Wheels, and epic Breeze Hull and Glow Wheels each have a small passive ability. Their effects are weaker than the matching legendary parts. Older character hulls and wheels, River Skimmer, Sunset Sprint, Moss Rollers, and Pebble Racers also have small passive powers now. Coins are placed away from ramps. Finish a Grand Prix for 30 coins with a gold cup, 20 with silver, or 10 with bronze. Your character's special parts are always free. Gold in each class unlocks gold paint; 150 gold unlocks mirror tracks.
